Our Vacation in Maine, Route 1, All along the coast.

The "On The Road" graphic fits us pretty good.
Most of our trips are by car, hence, "We are on the road again". Sightseeing is one of our hobbies, we love to
travel all around the United States, we have traveled up to Canada and down to Florida. Florida, we had gone by plane.
So we have visited everything on the East Coast. Some are our favorites and those we return to. This year,
we returned to Maine to further investigate this beautiful state, the coast by the ocean is breath taking. A trip that
is unforgettable.
Each
evening we plan an intiniary of where we are going.
Please note: This page may take time to
download due to the amount of graphics and the size of some photographs. Please be patient. Thank you, MaryAnn

Kennebunkport, the summer home of President Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush. Even though this estate
is so grand. The furnishing in the main rooms are very water and child oriented. They have a huge picnic
bench as their kitchen table. Like many cabins, their living spaces are very rustic. Very durable but comfortable.

Is this view beautiful!!!
You could just jump right in and swim, or envision yourself in a comfortable boat, bobbing among the waves. A picnic
lunch laid out on a blanket, add some pillows, take a nap, several hours go by before you know it. A must at Acadia
National Park, the only way to aborb all the natural beauty. The Park in this area, is an 8 mile loop by car.
So, if your feeling energentic, you walk or hike the whole thing. We preferred to pick a beautiful spot, throw down
a blanket, two pillows and picnic basket. Several hours of pure bliss.

East Quoddy Light House in Campobella,
New Brunswick, Canada. This is on the upper coast of Maine, right above Lubec, Maine.

A public
golf course at Campobella, New Brunswick. Now this would be playing golf, with a beautiful view like this. All
of Route 1, is like this. So many breath taking views. Little villages with quaint shops where you can buy quality
gifts. This is October, when it is a little quiet. During the summer you can't move due to the crowds.

Lubec,
Maine... This quaint little fishing village lies on the most eastern part of the United States. Right across the bay
is Campobella, New Brunswick.

Maine and Nova Scotia, Canada
is one of our favorite trips. Even though its a long ride just to get there, its worth it. We traveled throught
New York City, Boston, etc. Which I won't do again. There is too much traffice between New York and Boston.
We are going up the the Garden State Parkway to the end, hit rte. 81 north, heading toward Lake George, then veer right toward
Connecticut. Bypassing all the cities. Maine is our favorite! The coast is so scenic, its filled
with history. The people are friendly, the food is delicious and cheap. The accomadations are clean and reasonable.
What more could you want.

Here you can see the path taken
to get to the light house. At low tide and decent trecherous walk, now imagine the tide coming in at 5 feet per hour.
That is pretty fast.

The following year we went to
West Virginia, near Harpers Ferry. It was beautiful, I didn't take any photographs due to ill health. I enjoyed
the trip immensely, want to go back again and stay longer, it was only a 4 day trip. Northern Maryland is extremely
beautiful, a lot of horse farms there. Also for us, the Appalacian trail is there, no way could we explore it this year
but at least we have all the stats and locations for a future trip. West Virginia is a very poor area, the people really
work hard there. Minimum wage is what most people make in this area.

Due to lower back & leg problems.
I have not been able to travel since. It is now almost 2007 in December. I go to a Neurosurgen, tomorrow to see
about getting operated on. I am housebound and can only walk very short distances. I have to use a wheel chair
to do the Mall or go any distance at all. We are praying that the surgery will enable me to walk. In Jesus name.
Amen. Amen. The neurosurgeon wants me to do spinal cortizone injections and wait another year.
No way!!! I belong to a prayer ministry and they are praying for me. In March of 2008, I could feel
something moving up and down my spinal cord. All pain was taken away. I can walk up and down the steps, which
I haven't done in over 4 years. As of September 2008, I can walk at least 3 blocks. I kayaked this September for
the first time in many years. My muscles in my arms and legs are weak but I feel they will strengthen with time.
Just being pain free, is miracle enough for me. Thank God...
